From the Heart: A Message to Our TheColdCases.com Community
Dear Readers,
As I sit here in December 2025, looking back on the journey that began in February of this year, I’m filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. When I launched TheColdCases.com ten months ago, it was born from a simple yet powerful belief: every missing person deserves to be found, every unsolved case deserves attention, and every family deserves closure.
Today, I want to speak directly to you – our subscribers, our supporters, our community. You are the reason we’ve grown from an idea into a movement. Each subscription, each share, each comment has helped build something I believe is truly special.
My Vision for TheColdCases.com
I didn’t start this platform to create just another true crime website. My vision is much bigger than that. I dream of TheColdCases.com becoming a multimedia journalism powerhouse that transforms how we approach cold cases. Imagine investigative documentaries that dig deeper than anything you’ve seen before. Picture interactive articles that let you explore evidence alongside our team. Envision podcasts that give voice to families who’ve been waiting years – sometimes decades – for answers.
I want to hire the best investigative journalists – professionals who will dedicate months, even years, to single cases. Journalists who will knock on doors, analyze evidence, interview witnesses, and follow leads that have gone cold. This isn’t about sensationalism or quick clicks. This is about real journalism that makes a real difference.
Why This Matters
Behind every cold case is a family living in limbo. Parents who go to bed every night wondering where their child is. Children who grow up without knowing what happened to their parent. Communities haunted by unsolved mysteries that happened in their own backyards.
These families don’t just need answers – they deserve them. They deserve someone who won’t give up, who won’t move on to the next story, who won’t let their loved ones be forgotten. That’s what I want TheColdCases.com to be: a beacon of hope for those who’ve been waiting in the dark for far too long.
The Power of What We’re Building
Already, we’ve seen the impact of our work. When we publish in-depth articles, tips come in. When we highlight forgotten cases, they get renewed attention from law enforcement. When we share families’ stories, other families reach out to share theirs. We’re creating a community of people who refuse to let these cases stay buried.
But we’re just getting started. I have big plans for 2026 and beyond:
Launching our first investigative documentary series
Building a team of dedicated cold case journalists
Developing multimedia tools that let readers dive deep into cases
A Personal Request
Here’s where I need to speak honestly with you. Building this vision requires resources. Real investigative journalism – the kind that travels to crime scenes, files FOIA requests, interviews dozens of sources, and spends months on a single case – costs real money.
Right now, we’re operating on a shoestring budget, relying on passion and determination. But to achieve everything I’ve described, I need your help. If you believe in what we’re building, if you want to see us grow into the journalism powerhouse I know we can become, please consider upgrading to a paid subscription.
Your paid subscription isn’t just about accessing premium content – though we’ll certainly provide that. It’s an investment in justice. It’s a vote for giving families the closure they deserve. It’s a commitment to ensuring that no case gets forgotten because it didn’t generate enough clicks or wasn’t sensational enough for mainstream media.
Looking Forward
I believe TheColdCases.com can become something unprecedented: a journalism brand that doesn’t just report on cold cases but actively helps solve them. A platform that combines the thoroughness of traditional investigative journalism with the reach and engagement of modern multimedia storytelling.
But I can’t do it alone. I need you – our community of readers who care deeply about these cases and the families affected by them. Together, we can shine light into the darkest corners of these unsolved mysteries. Together, we can give families the gift of answers. Together, we can ensure that no victim is ever forgotten.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Thank you for believing in this vision. Thank you for caring about the forgotten, the overlooked, and the abandoned cases that deserve our attention.
The best is yet to come. Let’s build something extraordinary together.
With gratitude and determination,
Dustin Reed Terry
