Questions answered in this file

Is inconclusive the same as a match?

No. Do not turn an unresolved result into identification. Read the report's method, question, explanation, and limits.

Does exclusion always mean no involvement?

No. It concerns the specified comparison; broader case involvement is a separate question requiring other evidence.

Is not tested a negative result?

No. It indicates no result from that examination in the relevant record, not a tested negative finding.

Does no database hit prove exclusion?

Not by itself. Database search outcomes and a formal sample comparison are different processes with different limits.

Can different samples have different result categories?

Yes. Track each item and examination separately instead of assigning one category to the whole case.
